The Message Of Love

We must stop giving hate any platform at all. There are a lot of good people doing great things in the world. They should get the platform. They should be the news story everyday. Then good can spread and inspire others with a message of compassion, peace, and love, and become more contagious, more acceptable. It is the right choice.Namaste

MAGENTA HEART

Twenty years agoI met her, not far from the beach

I’d never recognize her now

I hear her hair is colored in bleach
She painted me a picture

On an old white canvas

Of her heart

After some time together

Had passed
It was painted in oil

With a TV on in the background

She labored night after night

Very focused, she toiled away
It wasn’t red

It wasn’t quite purple

Outlined in black

It was magenta

And when she finished

She finally went to bed
The next morning she handed it to me

And as a fellow artist

I looked at it with respect

She wiped the brow of her lip

And said, “It’s anatomically correct”
She gave it to me that day

And said it was her heart

I didn’t know what to say

She put her thoughts, dreams, hopes, and fears into her art.
Her magenta heart

Still hangs on my wall

Sipping my coffee

I’m still waiting for her to call
Life against her

Placing it’s bets

15 years of memories

I still have no regrets
Despite all the sadness

I wish I could quit

These goddamn cigarettes
It tears me apart

That all that I’ve got

Is her magenta heart
Like her life

Her paintings soon faded

Her eyes changed from bright colors

Like someone who is jaded
But I still hold that painting on my wall

Years and years later

And look at it every night

From spring until fall
Dressed in my flannel pajamas

All cozy and comfortable

Before the next storm

Her heart looms over me

To keep me warm
I don’t know what the girl

With the magenta heart

Is doing today

But if I could know

I’d like to hear she’s okay
Her magenta heart

Still hangs on my wall

Sipping my coffee

I’m still waiting for her to call
I wonder if she ever

Wanted it back

15 years of memories

And feelings I never lack
Despite all the sadness

I wish I could quit

These goddamn cigarettes
It tears me apart

That all that I’ve got

Is her magenta heart
But for me that’s got to be

good enough

For me that’s got to be

good enough
A magenta heart

is good enough

It’s got to be

good enough

The only picture I’ve got

Is her magenta heart
